Community Events and Outdoor Team Lead
Location: Remote (with some in-person responsibilities)
Type: Part-Time (4-6 hours per week)
Reports to: Executive Director
Contract Period: April 7, 2025 – October 31, 2025
Compensation: $600 per month
Position Overview
The New York City Climbing Collective (NY3C) is seeking a dedicated and strategic Program Manager to oversee Outdoor Programming and Mini-Clinics. This role will be instrumental in developing and expanding NY3C’s outdoor programming and educational outreach, as well as leading a major summer fundraiser to support the organization’s mission. The ideal candidate will have strong project management skills, experience in event planning, and a passion for outdoor education and community building.
This position will work closely with the Executive Director and program leads to ensure the successful execution of programming and events, including two major outdoor trips annually and a fundraiser.
Key Responsibilities
Outdoor Programming
Organize and manage two major outdoor trips each year:
Spring Trip (May): For youth participants
Fall Trip (October): For adult participants
Oversee the development of a new outdoor initiative, culminating in September through October.
Create and maintain a point log summary for NY3C SPI sponsored recipients.
Coordinate with Rise Outside and other partners to secure guides and/or instructors, volunteers, and logistics for outdoor events.
Ensure proper safety protocols and risk management are in place for all outdoor activities.
Create an SOP on how to run an Outdoor Programming Day with the support of both Outdoor Programming co-leads
Communicate with participants coordinating waivers, transportation logistics, media release forms, and dietary preferences
Contact participants for post trip feedback experience for ways to improve
Mini-Clinics
Provide overall project management for Mini-Clinics, including scheduling and tracking progress.
Support the Mini-Clinic Lead with planning and execution of monthly sessions, indoors at Movement LIC and outdoors at Rat Rock including but not limited to editing Canva workbook of mini clinic lessons, Instagram grid posts for promotional material, Eventbrite pages, and NY3C website database of resources
Attend at least two Mini-Clinics during the contract term to monitor quality and gather in person feedback from attendees.
Assist in developing new educational materials and expanding clinic offerings.
Fundraising and Development
Plan and execute a summer fundraiser to raise $10,000 to support NY3C’s programming.
Develop the fundraising concept, secure sponsors and donors, and oversee event logistics.
Collaborate with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to promote the event and secure community engagement.
Track and report on fundraising goals and outcomes.
Operational and Administrative
Meet monthly (~1 hr) with the Executive Director to review program progress and goals.
Conduct monthly check-ins with Outdoor Programming (~30 min) and Mini-Clinic (~30 min) leads to provide guidance and track progress.
Support NY3C’s communications and outreach efforts, including Eventbrite page, social media and newsletters, as needed.
Maintain records and documentation related to programming and fundraising.

Skills and Qualifications
Required:
Strong project management and organizational skills.
Experience with event planning and fundraising.
Background in outdoor programming, recreation, or education.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting.
Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Calendar) and Slack.
Preferred:
Knowledge of rock climbing and outdoor recreation best practices.
Experience working with volunteers and community groups.
Familiarity with non-profit operations and governance.
